Game 2 - 18/08/09 Harlow Hill v Bramham
Game 1 - 15/08/09 Bedale 7 - 4 Harlow Hill. Hand, Marsh 2, Jones
Harlow Hill kicked off the new season away to Bedale believing they were fully prepared and ready however a disastrous start followed and within 20 seconds we were 1 down after sloppy passing and defensive frailties resurfaced. Minutes later Bedale doubled their lead with Harrison giving away a free kick on the edge of the area and Simon was beaten by a super strike into the top corner. Heads went down but were quickly lifted after Burton finished from distance with a smashing half volley lobbing their keeper. Unfortunately further simple errors from our defenders combined with a sublime move from the Bedale attack led us to be behind 5-1 at half time. Pride needed to be fought for and we did fight. Danny Marsh on competetive debut beat two defenders and crashed home before the same player again beat a couple of defenders and squared the ball unselfishly for Jonesy to calmly slot home. We were then dominating Bedale and Danny Marsh beat the keeper in a 1 on 1 race to bravely bring us to 5-4. At this point we looked like we would get a draw at the least but after formation changing miscalculations at the back Bedale extended their lead. There was also time for Simon to concede a late penalty, harsly adjudged to of felled the Bedale striker and he received a caution for his reminstrations. All round this was a strange opening game with poor individual errors costing us but the fightback did show some good spirit.
