Game 26 League 18/04/09 Leeds City 0 - 2 Harlow Hill res Rae, Waters
A mighty fine performance to end the season on a high but surely the question has to be...why haven't we performed like this all year instead of just in the final 2 games?. In an evenly contested first half both sides could have broken the deadlock but combined factors of poor finishing, good defending and a couple of super saves from Simon led to a half time score of nil nil. From a precision floated Morph free kick Goose semi controlled with chest and arm before lashing home from within the area to secure the Harlow lead. Resolute defending and tactical fouls on their Drogba like winger from Morph and yellow carded Scuba kept City at bay until with minutes to go from a ball booted out of defence released Burton who travelled at pace and fed in Danny Waters to place home a pressure relieving strike.
Game 25 League 11/04/09 Westbrook 1 - 2 Harlow Hill Res Rae, OG
What a difference a couple of days makes as a totally different attitude Harlow turned up to play away to Westbrook, all 14 players battled really well and in the end took a deserved 3 points. Goose gave us the lead with a stunning 25 yard half volley top corner strike but Westbrook responded with an equaliser just moments after the re-start. Harlow weren't deflated and pushed hard for a winner. With seconds left on the clock the Westbrook keeper gifted us a corner from a mis controlled back pass and after the first ball was headed out Wilky fired in a low drilled cross which deflected into the Westbrook net by one of their own players. Scuba whooped for joy!
Game 24 League 09/04/09 Harlow Hill Res 1 - 1 Spa Athletic Res Parry
This game promised to be a fierce and closely matched contest as both teams are packed with ex players keen to put one over their rivals but in truth it turned out to be a real let down with both teams performing well below par. It may of been the late kick off or just poor players but this game was dire. Spa started the most lively and took the lead when big Toughey was given the freedom of the pitch to pick the ball up close to halfway, storm forward and unleash a sweetly struck shot into the top corner. I've never seen him run so fast to celebrate in front of me thinking our £20 bet was heading into his sticky mits! Chance after chance to put in a decent cross passed us by with more balls sailing over the crossbar than anywhere else before we managed to equalise just before half time. A long ball flicked on by Jonsey was controlled by Pearsy and fed into Jonsey's path, his lob over the keeper was floating wide until Dave Parry arrived in the nick of time with a burst of pace to poke home. Second half needed some improving but both sides failed to deliver a winner spurning chance after chance.
Game 23 League 04/04/09 Harlow Hill Res 2 - Pannal Res 1 Wilson, Parry
This game was sparked into life after some intuitive thinking by Fran who calmly slotted home a quickly taken free kick whilst Pannal were setting their wall. Moments later Harlow went 2 - 0 up after good work from Rob Devall who fed the ball through to Dave Parry to dance past a few opposition players and leather the ball home. This should then of been an easy three points secured but Pannal bounced back with a quick goal after sloppy defending and it made the last few minutes of the game quite nervy. However Harlow held out for all of the points
Game 22 League 28/03/09 Harlow Hill Res 0 - Thirsk 4
Against a strong Thirsk outfit this game was always going to be difficult but we handed them the lead after 20 seconds, confusion between Scuba and Graham after the latter had called for the ball led to an easy Thirsk lead. We battled through to half time and should really of equalised through two guilt edge chances for Luke but he couldn't convert even when it seemed easier to find the net than the kiddies park!. Into the second half and Thirsk broke away down the left and their left midfielder neatly finished just inside the post. Their third came after good passing into the area and Graham could only get a glove on Les's shot to push it into the net. The scoreline had a harsh look on it after the Thisk number 7 rose to head home after a good cross from the right.
Game 21 League 21/03/09 Harold Styans 2 - 3 Harlow Hill Res Devall 2, Waters
This game was a see-saw battle until the dying moments when we deservedly grabbed all 3 points. We took the lead through Rob Devall after he was the first to react to a corner melee to head intelligently home. Styans equalised after Graham mis-handled a cross and their striker rifled it home. Rob Devall reinstated the Harlow lead after Jonsey controlled the Styans keepers goal kick and picked out Rob on the edge of the area, he took his time and placed a left foot effort sublimely into the corner of the net. We thought we had 3 points secured but Wilk pushed a Styans player in the box and the resultant penalty was despatched. With time running out Dave Parry played a delightful through ball into Jonsey's path, spotting the advancing keeper he tried for a lob only for the keeper to get half a glove on it, Danny Waters reacted first thoubh and pounced on the loose bouncing ball to head home into an empty net.
Game 20 League 07/03/09 Harlow Hill Res 0 - 2 Wigton Moor

Game 19 Cup 28/02/09 Leeds City 4 - 1 Harlow Hill Res Duncan
Against a strong Leeds City outfit Harlow only managed to trouble the scorers once, A long through ball from Tony Diver in the Harlow net put Luke through on goal and he cleverly lobbed the static City keeper from the edge of the box. Good performances from the Harlow back four especially Andy Story and Scuba kept the scoreline respectable but unfortunately Harlow are now out of the last cup campaign of the season and silverware is not to be attained again.
Game 18 League 14/02/09 Burley Res 1 - 4 Harlow Hill Res Nowakowski 3, Duncan
On a boggy mud covered battlefield Harlow squared up to the beasts of Burley, in previous weeks our 1st team game was called off midway through the game due to excessive crowd involvement, bad tackles and undermining of the referee so a tense niggly encounter was expected. We took the lead after Goose rampaged down the left and struck a fierce shot which thumped the bar and then bounced into Kowkski's path to tap home left footed. Our second came after good passing play freed Luke and he drilled home into the bottom corner. The tackles were flying in and Burley picked up a few yellow cards as the game was being stretched. Silvers though responded with more than a few of his own controlled meaty challenges. Kowkski got his second of the game after Simon's goal kick bypassed Burley's centre backs and the game was won. Burley did pull one back before Kowkski smashed home a tidy finish to secure his hat-trick. A red card followed for Burley as their crowd became heated but all in all a good battling performance.
Game 17 Cup 31/01/09 Harlow Hill Res 1 - 3 Wetherby Athletic A Duncan
In a relatively quiet first half the only incidents were with us losing Silvers to injury after 5 minutes and an acrobatic push over the bar Reccia save seconds before half time from DC! We started the second half strongly and after a total mis shot from Jonsey nearly reached the corner flag Goose picked up the ball and whipped in a good cross for Luke to head home. Our lead should of been doubled but Danny Waters was adjudged to have ben offside. Wetherby equalised on the break and then took a quick lead through a deflected goal from a Nick Smith tackle as the ball looped up and over the stranded Reccia. This challenge saw Smee replaced through a deeply bruised injury and would be the last we'd see of him until near the season end. We had chances to equalise and force extra time but it was Wetherby who got a third to put us out of another cup competition.
Game 16 League 24/01/09 Boroughbridge A 0 - 4 Harlow Hill Res Jones, Currie, Waters 2
A good performance and a rare clean sheet were the main points from this game. We went 1 up after Wilk fed the ball into Jonsey's path and he slotted home into the bottom right corner. Early in the second half from a set corner routine Jonsey had a shot cleared off the line and from the resulting corner after some quick re-shuffling DC raced to the near post and volleyed home. The third came from a long ball from Fran which disected the Bridge defence and an alert Danny Waters smashed home. The icing on the cake came as Rob Devall broke through and squared the ball for Danny to tap homehis second and our fourth. This game saw some excellent defending in patches from our back four with many bodies put on the line as they threw themselves to block shots, man of the match Silvers was a rock.
Game 15 League 17/01/09 Sherwood Res 8 - 1 Harlow Hill Res Devall
This match was an utter debacle thanks to the man in black who was an utterly incompetent and biased blind individual. He awarded Sherwood their first offside goal even though the player who scored was on the goal side of our keeper with only one player on the line as he tapped home. A quick second came before a terrible third was awarded after Sherwood hit the post and the ball bounced out for a goal kick....no a corner was awarded and Sherwood scored from it. At this point Pearsi from the halfway line took the opportunity to give the referree his opinion on the circumstances and received a red card! Half time came and we were 4-0 down after a luckily lobbed shot had beaten Tony. We restructured at half time and went for a christmas tree formation, it changed nothing as we were soon 6 down. We got a consolation as Rob smashed home a good finish but a further 2 goals were leaked as heads went down and yellow cards were picked up. Shambolic referee performance
Game 14 League 27/12/08 Harlow Hill Res 3 - 3 Beckwithshaw Res Waters, Devall, Ascough
We started badly and were soon 1 down, an equaliser came though after Hartley played a ball through for Danny to drive home. We should of taken notice and played better at this point but goals were scored and not by us to leave us 3-1 down with only a short time remaining. A really good spirited fightback came though led by the never say die attitude of Scuba who after a corner was swung in headed back across goal for Rod to poke home. Scuba then scored the point securing equaliser himself after Danny Currie also headed back across goal and nobody was getting in Scuba's way to stop him from reaching the ball with his head first.

Game 11 League 22/11/08 Harlow Hill Res 1 - 2 Harold Styans Res Rae
A disappointing performance today saw us go behind after a goal mouth scramble in which Goose and Scuba hesitated to clear the bobbling bouncing ball and the Styans striker got an easy headed tap in under the bar. Goose got us an equaliser from a cross come shot which swerved goalwards and totally bamboozled the Styans keeper. Then a dodgy penalty was awarded after Scuba had been adjudged to have held his man in the box, Styans converted and we couldn't find an equaliser.
Game 10 League 15/11/08 Beckwithshaw Res 2 - 8 Harlow Res Jones 3, Waters 2, Hand,Duvall,Rea
Finally our team performance came together and we gave the opposition a good thumping, Our first came from good work from Goose and Wilk who squared the ball to Jonsey to smash home. Goose scored the second after a Jonsey flick to Burton who did a cheeky back heel into Goose's path to lift the ball home into the roof of the net. Burton got the third from a Nick Jarrett through ball which ran perfectly into Burtons path and he finished with aplomb. Jonsey got the fourth after a neat turn in the box and a slotted left foot finish under the keepers body. Danny Waters got the 5th and 6th goals with a well taken lob and a side footed effort. Jonsey got his hat trick as Rob Devall unselfishly set him up for an easy tap in and Jonsey repaid the favour late on to feed in Rob for a super strike. In between Beckwithshaw got a couple of replies, Wilk got a booking, Silvers made some crushing challenges and all round a jolly good result.
Game 9 Cup 08/11/08 Harlow Hill Res 1 - 0 Pannal Res Wilson
A cup victory was secured late into the game as Wilk fed Fran on the edge of the area with a KAKA esq ball and Fran saw the keeper off his line........slipped, stumbled and tripped before smashing a shot into the top corner. Hurrah
Game 8 Cup 18/10/08 Harlow Hill Res 2 - 4 Pannal Res Story, Jones
Harlow took the lead through a beautiful finish from Chris Story after being fed in by Goose but couldn't capitalise and found themselves three one behind. Jonesy pulled one back from the spot after Goose had been felled but unfortunately we couldn't find an equaliser and Pannal went on to reach the next round of the cup comfortably
Game 7 League 11/10/08 Harlow Hill Res 3 - 2 Pannal Res Jarrett, Story, Rae
In a much improved performance from Harlow we battled for every ball and worked hard for 90 minutes and thoroughly deserved to walk away with all 3 points. We looked the brighter of the 2 teams from the start when Fran hit the post with a free kick from distance The opening goal came when the Pannal defence misjudged a long goal kick from Fran and Chris Story broke down the left before passing the ball across with the outside of his right foot to Nick Jarrett who took a touch before hitting the ball low to the keepers right. A goal that Nick deserved for the amount of forward runs he made.
The lead was short lived though as Pannal drew level when they were given too much time to put a cross into the box which was pulled back for their number 10 to finish past Ant and that is how it stayed until half time.
Harlow second half was played out mainly in midfield but with Harlow having the majority of possession in the final third. Harlow were awarded a corner following some good pressure down the right hand side. Nick J put the corner into the box where Goose brought it down on his chest before lashing it past the keeper with his left foot. As Pannal forward for another equaliser Harlow broke everything up in midfield and the Harlow defence looked strong on the rare occasions they got through. As the balls were hoisted up front Danny Waters and Story were chasing everything down and not given the Pannal defence any time to rest on the ball. Harlow then got the benefit of this hard work when a long ball was played up front Story wrestled with the big Pannal centre half to win possession he then held the ball up before laying it off to Waters to shoot, the shot struck two Pannal defenders and it was Story who reacted quickest before taking a touch and smashing the ball across the keeper into the far corner.
Pannal pulled a goal back almost immediately after when they had a corner from the right which was met by the head of a Pannal midfielder to power it past Ant.
Harlow had more chances towards the end of the game but couldn’t take advantage and that combined with resolute defending from the Harlow players kept the final score 3-2 to the visitors
Game 6 League 04/10/08 Harlow Hill Res 1 - 4 Westbrook Res Jones
Westbrook took the lead from a good finish after a break away move down the right and went two up from a deflected effort at a corner. Jonsey pulled one back via a header from Burton's corner. We had some pressure but after Ant handled out of his box to get a yellow card Westbrooke regained supremacy with a tap in from a good cross. Silvers then tried to dribble the ball away from his area but was tackled resulting in an easy fourth.
Game 5 League 27/09/08 Harlow Hill Res 2 - 3 Burley Res Jones 2
A lacklustre display of effort and desire from Harlow led to this defeat, from the warm up we didn't look like we wanted to play never mind win. We did make numerous chances in the first half and Morph, Dave Parry and Burton all should of netted. Burley's first goal came via an Ant display of flapping as he missed his punch within the six yard box to leave their player with a free header. They went into half time with a two nil lead. We tried to respond and Burton was felled in the box, Morph with supreme coolness stroked home. Chances came and went for both sides before Burley secured a third from a break down the right and a shot which found the net via the post. Morph gave Harlow some hope of rescuing the game with a thunderous left foot strike into the top corner from distance but we couldn't secure an equalizer.
Game 4 League 20/09/08 Harlow Hill Res 2 - 2 Spa Reserves Jones, Parry
On a scorchingly hot day for September this was a game of two halves which saw Harlow dominate the first 45 minutes and Spa the second 45. We should really have scored more than 2 goals with our final ball just letting us down. We scored first from a kindly awarded penalty with Morph sending the Spa keeper the wrong way and our second came from ex Spa stalwart Dave Parry unleashing a 25 yard looping rocket into the top corner. Celebration was meaningful! Tiredness, a lack of fitness and an improved Spa side saw them take control in the second half, Pindy helped though with a poorly controlled chest down into their strikers path! The equalizer came from good work down the right and from the cross an easy tap in resulted in a fair draw.
Game 3 League 06/09/08 Harlow Hill Res 0 - 7 Leeds City
Leeds City dominated this game as a very strong and organised outfit at times really ripped us apart. We should of scored first though as after a lucky deflection the ball broke into Jonesy's path and the fool stroked it wide blaming the white building behind the goal for his poor finish! In the sapping heat Leeds then passed the ball around the park and before half time they were three up. Poor defending and mis placed passes from us helped them in their cause and but for some excellent keeping from Recki the score line could of been far worse. The second half continued in much the same vain and in the last twenty minutes the flood gates opened helped by our individual errors which led to them netting a further four goals.
Game 2 League 30/08/09 Harlow Hill Res 0 - 0 Sherwood Res
No game played as Sherwood Reserves could not turn out with eleven players
Game 1 League 28/08/08 Harlow Hill 2 v 1 Boroughbridge A Hartley,Waters
The first game of the season for the Reserves welcomed Boroughbridge A. We started really well creating a couple of half-chances early doors which unfortunately came to nothing. We continued putting the pressure on the opposition only to squander a few more chances. The second half was a different story with Boroughbridge coming out of the blocks the better side, creating a couple of chances they didn't capitalise on. Then their winger broke down the right, put a good ball in for the striker to nod home. This seemed to be the kick up the arse Harlow needed, we started to apply some pressure and eventually it paid off. The move started from the keeper and with some swift and precise passing down the right-hand side, Hartley was in to coolly slot it past the keeper. Then with about ten minutes remaining, substitute Shane Hand went on a jinxing run, only to square the ball to the edge of the box where Waters was waiting to strike the ball with the outside of his boot, into the bottom corner to clinch all three points for Harlow. A good solid display to start the season.
